A very Instagram 2011
While there are plenty of 2011 recaps and year-in-reviews to go around, I like to use the end of December as a time to reflect on the year passed. Here’s my 2011 as told through the lens of my Instagram.
In the beginning of 2011, after more than 5 years at his previous salon, my husband started a new job as a stylist at Mizu Boston in the Mandarin Oriental. He’s had so many wonderful opportunities since joining the team there including a multi-month “residency” doing the hair for Fashionably Late at the Liberty Hotel, styling shoots for Contra and Style Boston, and of course this happened.
Let’s resolve not to do shitty social media campaigns in 2012
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
Let this be your mantra for 2012, my digital brethren. Every time you think you have an awesome new idea that can be executed via social media, ask yourself “why would someone want to do this?” If you don’t immediately have a good answer – scrap the idea.
#Pathchallenge Update
So for those of you who actually made it to the end of my last post, I have accepted my friend Schneider Mike‘s challenge to use only Path for publishing content to my social channels.
The thing is… I really suck at this challenge. Sometimes it’s good to accept a challenge and see it through, even when you suck at it, because it’s good to know what you suck at. I’ve also learned a little bit about my own habits and preferences when it comes to technology.
A clean slate
Tonight in my Mastermind group, I was pushed to confront one of my biggest fears: “putting myself out there.”
No matter how much encouragement I’ve received from friends in the recent past (looking at you, Melissa and Meghan) sometimes it takes a swift kick in the ass from a respected group of your peers to get you to take a leap of faith.
Oprah taught me that when facing a fear or challenge it is best to move right through the fear. Fear is the feeling you get when you’re on the verge of greatness… Or something like that.
3 Tips to Get More Value Out Of Twitter
On my last oneforty post I received a lot of affirmation about how difficult it can be to find quality content on Twitter. I also read a number of replies about how tedious it can be to manage multiple accounts or maintain an active Twitter presence ontop of real life! As a part II, I’ve put together these three tips to help you maximize value and efficiency on Twitter, while still having time to breathe and disconnect.
